Any artform is interesting to look at and to explore, however street art is especially unique and exciting for many reasons. For one thing, it is a very unusual way of portraying art. There is no gallery atmosphere, where the audience goes there with the specific intention of viewing and appreciating art. Is is not showcased in a quiet, controlled environment where everything is confined to categories and rules. Art on the street is an unconventional way of displaying ideas and talents, however for some reason it works fantastically. Perhaps it is the element of surprise, that takes the public unawares and exposes them to something that will change their opinions or simply entertain them.
Perhaps it is the novelty which we feel when we see artworks on the street, outside of the conventional ways of displaying them. Many people may be used to looking at paintings on their walls at home, while they talk on the phone or play Partypoker, and sculptures in specifically dedicated museums. However you do not expect to see such things when you are walking your dog or on the way to the shops. Street art subverts our expectations and plays with our minds, throwing the unexpected out onto our path and demanding that we enjoy it.
It often comes in the form of a commentary on the politics of daily life, or simply shows everyday situations in unusual surroundings. Sometimes it makes us laugh and at others it surprises us with its sudden beauty. Whatever form street art takes, it is a very interesting form of expression. The streets are a platform for artists who want their work to be seen by everyone, not just those who go to galleries and museums. It is unconventional and surprising, yet classic in its innovative style.
