The Independent. Truth matters.

The Independent has always been… Well independent I guess, “We push no proprietorial or political agenda, and seek only to expose the truth; however uncomfortable that may be, or whomever it may offend.” {The Independent.} The Independent prides itself on being equal and telling or exposing the truth to its consumers. In the current climate of tumultuous times, an economic crisis and a parliamentary scandal form the backdrop to the most significant election for three decades. Who knows what the outcome will be?

Review of the Literature A large body of literature relating to the investigation into achieving accurate text legibility and consistency on the world wide web in addition to the lack of tried and proved theories provides the basis for the present study. This chapter will examine both the theoretical and empirical studies in the field.

Dissertation

Methodology This chapter discusses and justifies the method adopted for this study.  Ranges of techniques recommended for the addition of text to web pages were introduced in the literature review.  It was necessary, then, to employ an empirical ‘trial-and-error’ process in order to test the legibility of text coded according to each technique.  This would allow the combination of best practice from each method to give guidelines, which offer successful outcomes in the widest range of situations.

Results As stated in the first chapter, the study reported here examined in detail the benefits of communicating through the medium of the Internet compared with other forms of media, it then went onto discuss how you communicate via the Internet, leading onto the problems faced when doing so and the need for a standard font size interval system across the web. This chapter will present the results of trying to achieve a consistent and accurate font size interval system throughout the Internet.

Summary and Discussion As an aid to the reader, this final chapter of the dissertation restates the research problem and reviews the major methods used in the study. The major sections of this chapter summarize the results and discuss their implications.

Communication and Media

Communication Media in the world Media and communication throughout the world is vast, differs in many ways and is constantly evolving. A reading of both professional journals and current literature would suggest that these forms of media and communication seem to be the most accepted and thus successful types of communication: Print; Radio; Television; Direct Marketing; Ambient; and the Internet. These forms each have their advantages but also there disadvantages, whilst some being stronger and more effective than others in the communication and media world.
