As stated in the first chapter, the study reported here examined in detail the benefits of communicating through the medium of the Internet compared with other forms of media, it then went onto discuss how you communicate via the Internet, leading onto the problems faced when doing so and the need for a standard font size interval system across the web. This chapter will present the results of trying to achieve a consistent and accurate font size interval system throughout the Internet.
Initially the CSS code was used with and without the reset code to allow for comparisons in the display of the text and to judge how much each browsers default settings affected the size and layout of the text. Table 1 shows the results of a common use of the CSS code element ‘em’ and the differences in the text display on a MAC platform and Windows platform without the use of reset code. Table 2 shows the differences with a reset code. All browsers had the default size set to 16px.
